  Angel & Child In Chalks

If you would like to have more of an antique look, especially on animals fur, apply a colored wash to the bisque before applying the Clear Glaze. Be sure to wash a good deal of the color off, leaving it only in the deep detail.

Mold by Doc Holliday

The choice of molds for the production of greenware is usually done with the market appeal  in mind. This particular piece we purchased simply because I fell in love with it. When they say "it was calling my name", this piece really was!
Preparation: Clean your greenware carefully. This piece is very delicate. Some of the areas are best cleaned with a wet brush rather than a cleaning tool. Fire to 03, then apply two coats of clear gloss glaze and fire to 06.
Spraying: You must be very careful not to leave any finger prints or smudges on the glazed surface. Wear rubber gloves if you have them, or handle with paper towel to avoid leaving any oil from your hands on the glaze. Using a Porcelain Spray, shake the can thoroughly, (about 2 minutes), then apply light coats of spray until there are no shinny spots left on the glazed surface. Be sure to dry well between coats of spray.
Applying Chalks: Select several sizes of white bristled stain brushes. You will need some round and some flat to fit the different areas as you work. Using Pastel Chalks, either bars or squares. Rub your brush across the chalk and apply to the piece in a circular motion. It will be necessary to spray between coats to build up the density of color you desire. Keep a damp Q-tip handy to wipe off smears. Remember to keep the spray light. It is possible to apply it too heavy, and it will peel off. If this should happen, you will need to scrub it all off and start over. Start with the lightest colors and use darker shades to add detail. Chalks blend together beautifully. When you are satisfied with your finish, give it a final Porcelain Spray.
Painting Features:  Using a feature brush, block in the eyes with Bisque White. Paint the irises brown with black  pupils and a tiny white highlight. Using a 10-0 liner paint tiny, tiny lines for the eyebrows, eyeliner and lashes. Do not use too dark a color for this to avoid getting a harsh look. Using a little dust from the pink chalk, with a damp feature brush, pick up some of the chalk dust and lightly paint in the lips on both figures. The final touch is to apply High Gloss Sealer to the eyes and lips.
