Thanks Mike, I could not of said it any better. Here is one to think about. I have a friend who does not have an automatic kiln, hence she does fire to cone 03. So I have this platter that she pours and I go to fire it at her suggested firing range 03-04. I have never had anything warp so badly, unbelieveable. The slip that we use suggested firing 04-06. Anything above 04 does seem to warp out of shape, especially the large pieces. My witness cones are always bent tip to shelf. It is obvious to me that I should stay with the 04 firing, at least for my kilns. So I think that its a good idea to also keep firing records on things that go in the kiln, at least until you can be sure how your kiln is firing. I have always kept a log on each firing and pretty much know when something is going wrong. Char
